What types of psychology therapy do you offer?

I am a registered Psychologist of 25 years, so am experienced with a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. At a foundation level, i can provide Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). Beyond these basic approaches , I am well versed with other approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical and Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Somatic Therapy.

Do you offer online therapy or face to face section?

I offer both in person and online (Telehealth) appointments. In person appointments are available Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm at the Uniting Health Hub (1 Richens Street, Redcliffe). After hours appointments are also available per request.

Telehealth appointments are conducted over Zoom and are available Monday to Friday 9am until 6pm. After hours appointments are also
available per request.

What can I expect during my first psychology therapy session?

Accepted Answer

During your first therapy session, you can expect a warm and friendly greeting as we get to know each other and develop initial rapport. I will also provide overview regarding necessary ethical and professional considerations. Beyond this, I will ask you some questions as part of an initial assessment to better understand the challenges you face. I may also request you to complete some assessment surveys to assist further in this regard.

Can you help with anxiety, depression, and trauma?

Yes, I can certainly assist with these issues. I have a few decades of experience supporting people with general mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, and am experienced in evidence-based approaches for addressing these challenges. With regard to Trauma, I am also well versed in approaches to assist and have experience helping many people in this area also.

Do you offer couples counselling and relationship therapy in Australia?

Yes, I provide couples and relationship therapy. I am experienced helping people with relationship issues and it is an interest area of mine. I am experienced with a few frameworks of therapy in this area including Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT).

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Accepted Answer

Most people find that they benefit from therapy on some level, even if it is just having a safe and confidential space where you can unburden your concerns and where you feel heard and understood. Beyond this, therapy includes routine outcome measurement and periodic reviews to gauge the impact of therapy and if it is successfully addressing issues. Using this approach, we can also objectively determine if therapy ifs doing what we want it to.

Do you accept Medicare or private health insurance?

Yes, i accept both medicare rebates (on an approved mental health care plan from a General Practitioner) and private health insurance. When I provide you with an invoice from a session, it includes relevant item numbers for claiming with your private health fund provider.
